End of the year party.....

This morning when all the students got here I had my camera out and I was ready to take pictures. Then when parents started arriving and the party started I forgot..... I was so busy serving food and giving hugs I did not remember to take one picture. We had a successful party and it was a lot of fun! Thank you parents for helping me and bringing snacks for us to eat. I have had a wonderful year with your babies. Thank you for sharing them with me! I hope everyones has a GREAT summer!

Field Day Fun!

Summer is almost here!! We are so ready :) We had our field day this week. Our PE coaches planned all the games and the theme. They did an ocean theme this year. Each class was an ocean animal. My class were clown fish. They were very excited seeing how Nemo is a clown fish! It was beautiful weather and such a fun day. We were all very tired when it was all over though. Courage Carnival: Raising money for Relay for Life

We had our Courage Carnival today and it was AWESOME! The students got to buy tickets to play fun games and dunk some teachers and faculty. They had a blast! Parents, thank you for sending money for such a great cause!

Constitution Village Field Trip

Yesterday I took I my class to Constitution Village in Huntsville, AL. It was a blast! The students got to make crafts, dance, and learn many facts about how life was long age. We even got to meet Besty Ross and she told us about making the first flag. We were very excited about talking to her since we just finished reading Red, White, and Blue last week. We had a great day! Here are a few pictures from our fun filled day.

Science in Action

Carley in our classroom brought her root viewing vegetable system. I set it up while the students were gone to PE. We planted a radish, a carrot, and a onion. On day one the students are going to predict which vegetable will grow the longest and thickest root. They will also draw a picture of the seed and the root viewing system. Throughout the next few weeks the student will observe and measure the roots and we will be recording the data on our charts. Check out our Root Viewer! Thank you Carley!

Writer's Workshop is what's up!

This past week we got back into writing after having a week off during Spring Break. We started our how to writing unit. The students watched and helped me write how to make a peanut butter sandwich and how to brush your teeth. On Friday, the students were given the topic How to blow a bubble. We met at the carpet and I gave all the students a piece of bubble gum. (Crazy I know I had to threaten them to make sure it didn't end up in someones hair)  After we had all chewed the gum and tried to blow bubbles we began writing. We wrote the steps together and then they wrote it independently. Here is a picture of how it turned out. Also, we have Fine Arts Night coming up on April 16th at 6:00. Birds of a feather YAM together!

The whole month of March is Youth Art Month (YAM) This month we have been studying and learning about birds. When my students went to Mrs. Hall's art class they have been doing fun bird artwork and learning facts about the birds they are drawing. At snack time we have been watching the flamingos at the Smithsonian zoo. They have zoo web cams that are awesome! We got to make colorful bird mask to wear to lunch on Friday. During our lunch time, there was a flash mob and it was great! All the other classes wore their birdy things too. We also got to see a Natures night life show this week. The students got to see different types of animals and learn cool facts about them. They also go to pet a gross  I mean cool snake!! Here are some pictures from this week.
